Moving Together explores and celebrates the collaborative relationship between music and dance, musicians and dancers, through three different lenses: Flamenco, African, and Modern dance.

From each genre, we will follow a musician and a dancer who collaborate together, either for performance or class. Through these three parallel collaborations, we will observe the differences and similarities in the relationships and work processes between these dancers and musicians, ultimately getting a glimpse into the universal languages of dance and music.

In Moving Together, we will follow composer Michael Wall’s collaboration in class with modern dancer/choreographer Jesse Zaritt. With A’lante Flamenco, a local Flamenco company in Austin, TX, we will watch the musicians and dancers create and rehearse original work. Finally, Michelle Gibson, choreographer, performer, cultural ambassador, and educator, gives us a glimpse into her own New Orleans Second Line Aesthetic.
